True, just like Mike of Opeth.

They are both my top bands. Now I know why :D
Whispering my given name.
Unfurls the fingers of flame.
Nameless sons and daughters of sin.
Step forward when you hear the bells ring.

The same here :) And to be frank I don't know why... Their styles are so very different....

Going back to the topic - I love Aaron's performance in 'Return TO the Beautiful'... The first version kinda didn't touch me in the way the new version did...

I love this song. I'd like they play it.

this is a hard question but in my opinion it has to be the dreadful hours not just the song but the entire album perfect mixture of clean vocals and screams also growls

Yes, I love the variation on that album. Aaron's vocal performance on The Dreadful Hours is one of the reasons why it's my favourite MDB album. :)

I have to go for And I Walk With Them, because it perfectly shows all Aaron can do with his voice after all these years of developing it. The low singing, het even hits some high notes, the recitativo accompagnato part in which he "speaks," and I know there's only one growl, but is in it. And it is a good one. But all of this is done with the same passion.

And I second that.... Beautifully done, indeed.

Probably his best vocals is on A Line of Deathless Kings. And Like Gods of the Sun is not my favourite album, but I really love the vocals on it, it's probably my favourite vocally, but it's really hard to say, tough question.

If we're talking about technical ability, then maybe...

But I think they don't compare with any of his performances on TLtS, TAatDR, LGotS, 34.788%, TLatEotW or TDH in terms of how they makes me feel. Not one line in that entire album gives me that spine-tingling feeling MDB albums are usually full of.

Therefore, imo, ALoDK is his worst.

I don't agree that his vocal performance on ALoDK was his worst, but I understand what you're saying. Like I said earlier in this thread, when he sings in a cleaner, more beautiful way, he gets further away from sounding like a wretched being, and the music lose a bit of it's touch.

(by the way, his vocals on TAatDR (except from Cry of Mankind) is my least favourite ones, I guess. Had a little problem with it when I first heard it, and I never got fully accustomated to that singing style.

If we talk about albums and not moments, The Dreadful Hours is my pick. The way his voice sounded on that album was just perfect.

That's exactly it.

That's precisely what I was talking about.

And people like My Dying Bride for different reasons, some suggest that when he sings in a more cleaner, beautiful way their music loses it's touch. I disagree, and much prefer his clean vocals to his growling. I personally can feel that "spine-tingling" feeling that you can't, in ALODK. Most notably in songs like To Remain Tombless, I Cannot Be Loved, And I Walk With Them, Loves Intolerable Pain and The Blood, The Wine, The Roses.
