Ok, Can you guys tell me what is your top 3 songs for now? or Maybe it's the same for ages? I know it's hard to choose and could be quite annoying to do that, cause we all love most of their work...
Yet, sometimes you prefer to listen a couple of songs for a few days, always the same and then changing for others.
So let us know what is YOUR own choice and why it is currently this one.

1 - A Doomed Lover ( I've started to think that this song and the whole album is a real doom metal master piece )

2 - The Light at The End of The World ( The lyrics, my God... )

3 - Symphonaire Infernus et Sperra Empyrium ( It's my ringtone! )

Last Edit: I added this poll here because I wasn't in the mood to create a special topic for this. But I wanted to know how often you were listenning to My Dying Bride ? It's been now some years that I personally listen to them almost every days. Same for you ?

well.. i could say it's special as all MDB songs... but it doesn't prove anything... haha.. that was what I've been trying to say. This top is somewhat irrelevant. hahah

This top is not a "permanent" top 3. That's why I called it "Your CURRENT top 3" ahah. It could change from one week to another... So I don't understand why you call it irrelevant... ahah.

Yeah, it certainly why I created this thread... Maybe you want me to explain again what CURRENT means? You know Aylin, I didn't force anyone to post on this topic. Even more if someone find it irrelevant. Say to all the people around here that there opinions "change as soon as they push the submit button". This discussion is sterile...

EdenCancer wrote:I don't think she meant in offensively.

What I think she means, is that even though you take 3 songs and name them as your top 3, you immediately have second thoughts are there's many more than 3 songs that you'd love. Espeically when there's so many good songs to choose from. "Opinions change"...that's not a hostile statement. It's true, though. I chose my 3, for example, and I had a hard time doing that, haha. And even then I kinda want to change it, but since those three fit my current overall mood then those are staying. It's a matter of likeness after all, which is why the question of the top 3 was done in the first place I reckon.

By the way...I don't mean to start any arguments up about this. I'm just seeing it from an objective point of view. Cheers. :]

:o

I was not offenced, just a bit pissed off. And one more time the title of this thread is not: " You favourite top 3 songs FOREVER AND EVER", it is just your CURRENT top 3 (of this day, this week, this month, this year...)

Wow, thats a real hard one, but in no particular order....

1. For My Fallen Angel (the violins at 00.13 bring instant melancholy, it provokes feelings of such sadness its impossible not to like)
2. And I Walk With Them (Love this so much! ''Then heaven opened above me, and down God's tears came..." Enough said really)
3. Der Uberlebende (I will say, it took the longest time to get into 34.788% but it was well worth it!)

My divine negative, No joy can be compared to you, And no conquest can be equated with you, No euphoria can be compared with you, And no love can ever replace you..

Well, that's a wonderful compliment! Thankyou. However, there are thousands of pieces of music that express the same sentiments much more eloquently and expressively than that simple song (although i don't wish to belittle its value to those that love it!).

What's amazed me the most is how we are able to switch from a favourite song to another. It's like a cycle. After some years, you think to be finally stuck to some favourites, but then you listen again a song and think "How strange that I did not notice it before" :D

It happened to me several time. Especially for almost all the TLATEOTW cd.

1 - The Sexuality of the Bereavement
2 - The Light at The End of The World
3 - Death Triumphant (The end is amazing!!!!)

Yep, I think this song is often under rated and the violin part in it is just a splendid work. Besides, it has some very special and personal meaning for me...

This song is a real mystery for me. I love FLIS, but this song has been done too quickly for me. Thanks the violin + keyboard in the end. It saves the whole damn song...
Regarding the title, I would have better called it "Run, run, run my darling !" :D

Getting out of the house this morning I noticed frost covering the car. A bit early, but then I live up on the slopes of a mountain in a valley known for its cold and long winters. Perfectly suitable day for some My Dying Bride in the car on my way to work. As I have a 74-track mp3 disc with MDB songs, I just hit the 'mix' button on the car stereo and listen to whatever comes up.
Today it was "Black Voyage" and I was surprised at how long it has been since I have listened to this song (measured by how much of the lyrics I had forgotten - I like to sing along in the car), but I was also stunned by how freaking good "Black Voyage" is. Yeah. The first minutes of "My Body a Funeral" where also listened to and again I was stunned at how enjoyable it is to listen to the bride.

I've overdosed on MDB :worried: so the last week I've been going in a different direction, which is filthy/dirty thrash/death, bands like Repugnant, Nocturnal, Morbid Saint, Cruel Force, old Sepultura, first Death albums, Revenant, Impaled etc. Stripping away all the esoterica of the Bride ...

...though I do listen to them on my way to and from work where I keep a 75-track mp3 disc with MDB. Based on this,

1. My Faults are Your Reward
2. Turn Loose the Swans
3. My Body, A Funeral

All right, lately it's been these three topping my charts.

1. THE DREADFUL HOURS
I've had a break from it a number of years but when I heard it again the other day I was completely entranced. What a fucking fantastic piece of music this is. So evocative. So dark. The contrast between the quiet, almost tender parts, and the anger. Love it. Both growls and clean vocals adds to the atmosphere in their own unique ways. :devilsign:   :devilsign: :headbang:

2. TURN LOOSE THE SWANS
Still not over that wondrous midsection, like a beacon in the gloom before and after it, I have listened to this track more than any other track over the last year. Brilliant. Both growls and clean vocals adds to the atmosphere in their own unique ways. When I listen to this I want to wander a forlorn castle's courtyard in the rain. :violin: :devilsign: :headbang:

3. A MAP OF ALL OUR FAILURES
Almost a combo of the two aforementioned tracks, with the gentle quieter parts being a bit darker and the heavier parts being gentler, and with a soaring, victorious midsection that makes me fistpump the air. Only thing missing is...some brutal vocals to offset the (sick) sweetness. :) :violin: :devilsign:

But did Rosey actually look the same? :-o

Nice to see more love for "A Map of All Our Failures". I listened to it with a headset yesterday while doing the dishes and when it got its groove on I accidentally threw a plate across the kitchen and smashed it against a wall, lol. It's hard not to .. make movements.

Which brings me to today's Top Three!

1. A Map of All Our Failures:(mesmerizing is the word here)
2. God is Alone: Genitals savaged with broken glass, snap my ribs for pleasure :skull:
3. The Isis Script: Back after some time off rotation, one of my favorites. My only wish was that the fantastic opening harmonies were repeated toward the end of the song with some raspy growling painted on top of it.

Whispering my given name.
Unfurls the fingers of flame.
Nameless sons and daughters of sin.

Surprise, surprise, "And My Father Left Forever" is on heavy rotation though I want to not to hear it too often before the album is released. It's a great song, suprisingly accessible in a way. It has something new, and it has some comfortably classic parts too.

#2 & #3 of the week are "I Am the Bloody Earth" and "The Bitterness and the Bereavement".

It's been a while since I had a real MDB listening session, with quality sound and quietness around me. I did that yesterday evening while the storm was roaring outside, perfect athmosphere for some tracks:

1 - The Barghest Of Whitby
2 - The return To the Beautiful
3 - And My Father Left Forever
Whispering my given name.
Unfurls the fingers of flame.
Nameless sons and daughters of sin.
Step forward when you hear the bells ring.

1. Within a Sleeping Forest
Great song, reminds me of 'The Barghest o' Whitby' in places. And it is exactly the right length so that I can hear it through on my way to work.

2. To Shiver in Empty Halls
Another new gem, awesome lyrics

I've been listening to these two mostly over the last couple of days, I'm kind of saving the other new tracks.

3. And My Father Left Forever
