Hmm, choosing 3 is really difficult, I'm going to cheat a bit and tie a few songs for each place :p

1. Base Level Erotica / The Deepest Of All Hearts
2. The Stance Of Evander Sinque / The Raven And The Rose
3. Sear Me Mcmxciii / For My Fallen Angel

Almost made the list: Songless Bird, Like Gods Of The Sun, Grace Unhearing and The Fever Sea!

All right, lately it's been these three topping my charts.

1. THE DREADFUL HOURS
I've had a break from it a number of years but when I heard it again the other day I was completely entranced. What a fucking fantastic piece of music this is. So evocative. So dark. The contrast between the quiet, almost tender parts, and the anger. Love it. Both growls and clean vocals adds to the atmosphere in their own unique ways. :devilsign: :oops: :evil: :devilsign: :headbang:

2. TURN LOOSE THE SWANS
Still not over that wondrous midsection, like a beacon in the gloom before and after it, I have listened to this track more than any other track over the last year. Brilliant. Both growls and clean vocals adds to the atmosphere in their own unique ways. When I listen to this I want to wander a forlorn castle's courtyard in the rain. :violin: :devilsign: :headbang:

3. A MAP OF ALL OUR FAILURES
Almost a combo of the two aforementioned tracks, with the gentle quieter parts being a bit darker and the heavier parts being gentler, and with a soaring, victorious midsection that makes me fistpump the air. Only thing missing is...some brutal vocals to offset the (sick) sweetness. :) :oops: :violin: :devilsign:
I breed in chaotic frenzy!

Hahaaaaa...

I love this thread. I simply LOVE this thread.

"Your current top 3" means:

- we can NEVER EVER EVER pick one;
- and that will never ever stay the same;
- we are the addicts;
- we are the people that do a lot of eye rolling when we get the same question: "How can you listen to such depressing music?"
- we're the ones that could easily answer half of the interviews the band get: "Why did you choose this name "My Dying Bride"?", "How did you start?", "You were more death metal back in the days... what changed?", "How are songs born?" - Correct answer: a stork brings them or maybe a swan?

Well... back ON-TOPIC:

- Le figlie della tempesta: I don't know why but this song never ever actually leaves the Top 3. I believe we voted it the MOST underrated song of MDB. No one really ever talks about "Le figlie..." but Lily loves you, honey.

- A Map of All our Failures: impossibly good song. Fits my soul like a glove;

- A Tapestry scorned: "But Rosey looked the same"

But did Rosey actually look the same? :-o

Nice to see more love for "A Map of All Our Failures". I listened to it with a headset yesterday while doing the dishes and when it got its groove on I accidentally threw a plate across the kitchen and smashed it against a wall, lol. It's hard not to .. make movements.

Which brings me to today's Top Three!

1. A Map of All Our Failures:(mesmerizing is the word here)
2. God is Alone: Genitals savaged with broken glass, snap my ribs for pleasure :skull:
3. The Isis Script: Back after some time off rotation, one of my favorites. My only wish was that the fantastic opening harmonies were repeated toward the end of the song with some raspy growling painted on top of it.
I breed in chaotic frenzy!

Oh, what a fine taste! Sir, I salute you! :beerchug: The Bitterness and the Bereavement will be one of my favorite ones forever... good old days... :headbang:

I'll go with:
- The Bitterness and the Bereavement
- Like gods of the sun
- Two winters only

... but this will change, as Aylin said. This is just temporary choice.
Do not underestimate the power of the dark side!
