Looking back at my reviews booklet I might say:

1) Cathedral, Orange Goblin, Terrafirma. 1999
2) Metallica, Mercyful Fate, Overkill. 1999
3) Hypocrisy. 2010

Yeah Type O was awesome, and Queensryche was very surprising, they put on a hell of a show. I only went there to see Type O though, and they kicked ass. Only shitty part was some dude that jumped on my back to get up to crowd surf, that pissed me off i wanted to beat the shit out of him.

I once got in to a fight at a gig. A proper full on fist fight with a guy three times my size (not exactly difficult, yes, I know..) bastard split my lip! I only wanted to grab my coat from the side/wall area!

I too almost got into a fight with a stupid guy that threw himself against my back while I was headbanging at a Carcass (I think) gig. As I wasn't expecting a sudden impact, both my jaws clashed against one another when it happened and I had a small piece of one of my teeth broken. The guy just turned around and didn't even say sorry. I went to him and gave him a strong push, to start a fight, but the guy just looked blankly at me and didn't react, the bastard.

Later I was told one should keep the jaws tightly clenched at a metal gig.

My personal ethic behaviour at gigs is: NEVER be rude to a girl, unless she tries to steal your place in first row. In such case verbal advisory is welcome before beating her. Defending my first row has no distinctions: women, children...
btw with years passing by I went mostly towards enjoying company at gigs vs fighting for whatever... yes, I'm getting old.

This is tough. Off the top of my head I'll say

1 - Faith No More, Birmingham 1992

2 - Nine Inch Nails, Wolverhampton 1993

3 - My Dying Bride - Wolverhampton 2011

4 - Cathedral - London 2010

This list could change as my addled brain remembers more of the millions of gigs Ive been to over the years.

The situation I described happened in the 90's, when stage/crowd diving was more common and popular, I think. Unfortunately, that stupid guy wasn't the only one who threw himself against my back, he was just the most violent. I was with a friend at that gig, and he said: "It seems like you attract them, I'm here next to you and not one has hit me but you have already been hit with a lot of them". Of course I "attracted" them, they wanted to throw themselves against a girl's body.
I was never into mosh and always wanted to stay in my place, headbanging to the music and hated to be disturbed by moshers.

I understand what you say about the first row. When I saw Metallica also in the 90's (my list of best gigs will come soon), I got a place at the first row. A stupid kid managed to squeeze himself next to me and, seeing a girl, he must have thought it would be easy to just push me off my place. so he started pushing me aside. He chose the wrong girl. I was expecting the kid to understand I wouldn't give up my place at first row, but the stupid kid wouldn't stop pushing me. So after a while my patience reached its limit and I shouted at his ear: "Are you pushing, you fucking kid? I'll punch you in your balls and fuck you!" He stopped immediately and left me alone.
I'm normally a peaceful and quiet person who lets others be, I respect anyone's place at a gig, but if they fuck with me, I can get violent.

Need to have a good long think about this one, memory isn't as good as it used to be. :(

Saw Evoken at Hellfest in June and they were superb. Whether they make it on to my list - wait and see..............
