Nah, Carcass doesn't deserve to be on top or even in the middle either  . Cannibal Corpse are the champions.

I know it's not strictly Death, but I've been listening to Cephalic Carnage a lot over the past few days. I like how they mix it up. Brutal stuff!!

The first concert in my life that I attended was a death metal one. I was very impressed both by the bands and the show as a whole. It was unforgettable.

I've been loving Swedish death lately, particularly Dismember, Bloodbath and Edge of Sanity. Can anyone recommend me more bands in a similar vein? :)

What do you think of Bloodbath?

You have probably tried these even each of them are different on their own in this huge death scene. I can add a few Swedish death bands to your list:

At the gates
Entombed
Unleashed
Carnage
Hypocrisy
Dark Tranquility
Bathory

I second At The Gates, if you haven't heard. Personally, I think their best album by some way is The Red In The Sky Is Ours, but no one else seems to agree.

I have only heard "Gardens of Grief" and "Terminal Spirit Disease" albums so I can not say anything about the "Red in the sky is ours". Hopefully get a chance to listen that album some day :)

The only ATG albums I've heard are With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness (great album) and Slaughter of the Soul. Although my boyfriend has the Gardens of Grief EP on vinyl so I'll be sure to give that a listen ;)

I'm really enjoying Bloodbath at the moment, particularly Resurrection Through Carnage... Mass Strangulation is such a great song 8)
As for the other bands you mentioned Ezzi, I'm a big fan of Bathory, and I quite like Unleashed but find they get a bit repetitive after a while. And I've never been a fan of Dark Tranquillity, the other bands you listed really are ones I need to check out/listen to more though! Particularly Entombed... well, that gives me something to occupy myself with now that most of my coursework deadlines have passed :)

At the Gates and early Dark Tranquillity are fantastic. Both of them are amongst the first death metal bands I discovered (as well as In Flames back when they were still producing material worth listening to).

I've recently been really enjoying Necrophagist though. Fantastic Tech Death and probably better than Nile, who seem to be everyones favourite band of the genre at the moment. Is it just me who thinks Nile are massively overrated?

Haha no, I agree with you on that one. Nile get boring very quickly.

I really should pay more attention to Necrophagist because I like a bit technical and modern touch on death metal. The guitarist of Negrophagist also play in Codeon which also has an interesting approach to death metal. I haven`t even heard the new Codeon yet but looking forward to listen that asap.

There`s a lot of death bands that are more or less repetitious and boring but it´s always great to find something different.
