Ahhh yes, we shall have to give that a spin! :devilsign:

--------------------------------------------------------

I'm a huge death metal fan.. (it's probably my favourite genre within metal) A few of my very favourite bands include Bloodbath, Dismember, Morbid Angel, Vital Remains, Decapitated, Edge Of Sanity, Nocturnus, Vader..

Oh yes, and..

..a bit more trivia: That same guy also performed guest vocals on the album.

You're right.

Most of the obvious choices have been covered, but as a death metal fan myself, I highly recommend The Black Dahlia Murder. They're not entirely traditional to the genre (more like At The Gates), but damned if they aren't bloody good!

I suppose you'd call them a melodic death metal band. Check out "Funeral Thirst", "What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse", "Closed Casket Requiem" and "Of Darkness Spawned" ... well, any of their songs are good really, but these are my personal favourites.

Then there's bands like Amon Amarth and Arch Enemy, but I'm sure you're already aware of them.

Older DM has eluded me almost as much as older black metal, but some newer bands I really like are Portal and Cephalic Carnage (who always tour with The Black Dahlia Murder).

CC is as much stoner/grind as it is death though.

I like the old stuff, Death, Carcass, Krabathor, Master, Benediction, Bolt Thrower, Dismember, Vader etc. I can´t stand those new death core or brutal death bands.

By CC I assume you mean Cephalic Carnage? Whenever someone says 'CC' I instantly think of Cannibal Corpse who are most definitely not a stoner/grind outfit!

I never considered myself a death metal fan, and I didn't really investigate to what degree DM-influenced I am... but recently I discovered that many of the bands I listen to do really belong to this genre. :o Not too many, however. It will certainly be Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse...mmm... Obituary, Viogression, Dark Tranquillity and some In Flames' stuff(Lunar Strain, The Jester Race). :beerchug:

Of abhorrent Life, is waiting
Sweet Oblivion, culminating
All the years of fruitless quest.
